Jessica Simpson made her mark in the world of contemporary Christian
music. Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Jessica was performing with gospel
singers Kirk Franklin and Ce Ce Winans while she was still in junior high.
Jessica Simpson's father Joe was a psychologist who also worked as youth minister
in the local Baptist church
Jessica Simpson auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club when she was 12 years old. Her audition was unsuccessful as she froze when it came her turn to perform. After this failure, with the persistance of her friends and family she continued singing her gospel music and was eventually offered an album deal. As her success grew in the gospel genre, she was also noticed by Tommy Mottola of Columbia Records/Sony Music. Jessica made it clear that she would only be onboard if she could maintain her identity
After a long courtship, Jessica married the love of her life, Nick Lachey in October 2002. As a result, MTV offered the couple a reality show based on their everyday life as a couple. After recording a few albums, Jessica Simpson beat out Britney Spears, for the role of Daisy Duke, in the upcoming movie, The Dukes of Hazzard (2005).
Jessica Simpson Was voted #1 for VH1's Top Ten best bodies and was also picked as #1 on 'Maxim' top 100 hot list for 2004
